Carey was a top fashion model who stands at nearly 5'10", was popular with American fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, who was a renowned scientist who received the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a renowned geologist. Carey was educated all over the planet as a consequence of the work of her father. As she was attending the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. A representative of Ford model agency located in New York noticed her and asked for help. The model moved to France in 1980 and lived briefly in Paris as well as Bordeaux before deciding to return to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. She soon began appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. As a model, she went to New York University full-time to get a literature degree. In time, she began to become interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she had her first acting role which was a part of Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks as well as whitewater river rafting.
