AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is a striker and captains for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe between 2018 to 2020. [8][98][9] Morgan was chosen as the top pick in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. She made her debut in professional football and assisted the team in winning the league title. Morgan was 22, at the time was the youngest player in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, which the team finished second. At the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. She was second in the U.S. to score 20 assists and 28 goals for 2012, making her the sixth and youngest prolific player in the country to score 20 goals in one year. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. She was named to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
